This style of Citrine is created by heat treating Amethyst. This has become commonly recognised as Citrine, heat treated Amethyst or heat treated Citrine.

Natural Citrine is created when Amethyst or Smoky Quartz heat fuse naturally by mother earths mantle. Over time this becomes Natural Citrine which is more rare and expensive than Smoky Quartz or Amethyst.

To offer an alternative in price and availability, heat treated Citrine was created by mimicking the earths process. Usually heat treating Amethyst, sometimes Smoky Quartz to around 900 degrees in a kiln. This changes the crystal to a beautiful bold golden colour but doesn't change the molecular structure of the crystal. A lot of the healing properties are the same as Natural Citrine but a treated crystal is never as powerful as a natural piece.
